Karl Oskar Ekvall

Assistant Professor in Statistics at the University of Florida

Karl Oskar Ekvall

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Florida. I develop theory and methods for reliable inference in nonstandard settings, such as when a parameter is near the boundary, the information is singular, or the dependence is complex. Much of my work is motivated by mixed models. I also work on high-dimensional regression and covariance estimation, and write software implementing the methods.

Previously I was an Assistant Professor in Biostatistics at Karolinska Institutet and a postdoc at TU Wien. I hold a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Minnesota, and a B.Sc. in Economics and an M.Sc. in Finance from the University of Gothenburg.

I serve as an Associate Editor of Statistics and Probability Letters.
